Teddyanna Keele - Class of 1938
Mrs. Teddyanna Keele didn’t just teach her students she loved them, she was one of those teachers you never forget.
When people talk about Teddyanna, the word “brilliant” is often used; her husband stated she was a strong woman, she didn't allow anyone to disrespect her, she never backed down, and she was a winner. Her Sparks High School involvement included the newspaper and an editor of the yearbook, graduating in 1938. She attended the University of Nevada, Reno, where she received her English major and History minor. She married her high school sweetheart with whom she shared fifty wonderful years of marriage and raised two great kids.
Teddyanna, at the request of Proctor Hug, decided to come teach at Sparks. She was the senior class advisor, attending all extracurricular activities. She not only taught students, she counseled them about their problems. She was just as dedicated to her children, taking time off from teaching to raise them until they started school (both of whom also graduated from Sparks).
She obtained her Master's degree at the age of sixty, and after retiring from teaching, she was active in the Sparks City Council, especially the committee for the aid of battered and abused women. This extraordinary woman was vibrant from the time she started school, actually skipping the first grade, until her death at the age of seventy-four.
