Edward S. Feinhandler – Friend of Sparks High School
Edward S. Feinhandler was born January 13, 1948. He grew up in Elko Nevada, alongside his brother and three sisters. Feinhandler attended the University of Nevada, Reno. He graduated in 1972 with a degree in public relations. He later went back to school to receive his teaching license.
Feinhandler served in the Vietnam War but was discharged for health issues. While he was in the military, he saw a need to give blood and ever since has been donating plasma. In 1991, he even started donating platelets. He is famous for not only his record-breaking blood donation, but also his over-all-giving nature. Throughout the years, Feinhandler continuously helped underprivileged youth and families. He is willing to assist anyone in need and he doesn’t hesitate to use money out of his own pocket to buy school supplies for many children each year; clothes or food or anything else they may need. Feinhandler participates in many philanthropic activities like taking children out to nice restaurants, baseball games and even taking them on trips to Six Flags. Feinhandler founded the HUEY Feinhandler Foundation which provided free tennis lessons to underprivileged youth.
He not only dedicated his life to helping others but he also receives a great deal of attention for his “ugly face.” Feinhandler claims he is the ugliest man in the world and has participated in fifteen ugly man contests but through all Feinhandler does, his inner beauty outshines all his outer “ugliness.”
