Paul Afred “Bud” Tholl – Class of 1940
In 1922, in Sparks, Nevada Paul Alfed “Bud” Tholl, was born to Paul Tholl and Callie Mae Austin Tholl. He had two sisters, Emily and Mary. He grew up in Sparks, attending Robert Mitchell Elementary School, Sparks Middle School and Sparks high School. He was Student body President his senior year and graduated in 1940. Paul studied at UNR for an engineering degree, but World War II interrupted his education. He joined the Army and did a tour of Europe from 1943 – 1946.
In ’46 Paul married June and in 1950 he took over the family business, Tholl Fence. He and June had four children: Iris, Matthew, Mark and pat. He has six grandchildren. In September 2001 he married Mimi Tholl.
Paul has remained very active in the community. He has been a charter member of Sparks Rotary Club since 1948, and is a member of the Nevada Humane Society. In 2006 he won the prestigious Sir Award; He also received the JA Award and the SIM Award.
