Dr. Michael Kinnison ~ Class of 1961

Dr. Michael Kinnison is a proud alumni of Sparks High School who graduated with the class of 1961. He is happily married to his wife Barb Kinnison, who supported him financially and raised their children while he pursued his endeavors. Throughout the years his wife is still his best friend. He is blessed to now have the means to support their children and grandchildren as they need it. Kinnison was on the football and baseball teams all four years of his high school career. He played on the JV basketball team his freshman and sophomore year. He learned about team sports and friendships throughout his involvement in these sports. His favorite sport is baseball. He describes his overall high school experience as “fat, dumb, and happy”. Although his high school counselor told him he shouldn’t go to college because he wouldn’t make it, he still pursued his goals. Kinnison made it all the way to grad school and studied medicine. He graduated six months earlier than else in his class and was the first to graduate from a Nevada school. He also has an undergrad in zoology. His parents were very supportive through college and his father was a perfect role model, He was an Intelligence Officer in the U.S. Air Force for 11 years. This was during the Vietnam Was and he was in a boot camp in Texas. He is now part of the Glover Foundation which provides scholarships for four years for students who study medicine.
