Jenny Salls ~ Class of 1970

   Dr. Jenny Salls was born on May 8th, 1952, in Reno, Nevada to Edmund and Joey Naphan. Jenny attended Greenbrae and Lincoln Park Elementary Schools and Dilworth Middle School.

            During Jenny’s time at Sparks High School, she was involved in an array of activities and intramural sports. She took academics very seriously and graduated as the school’s valedictorian in 1970.

            After high school, Jenny matriculated through the University of Nevada and received her Bachelor of Science degree in 1974. Jenny then received her master’s degree in 1985 and her PhD. In 2006.

            Dr. Salls’ teaching career began at Reno High School in 1977 and she has taught in a variety of schools in the Washoe County School District over the past 41 years, including Sparks High School. In addition to teaching throughout the Washoe County School District, she has taught courses at both the University of Nevada and Sierra Nevada College and facilitated online courses for PBS. During this time, she has presented at over 26 professional development trainings both locally and nationally and has been published six different times.

            Dr. Salls will always be remembered for her passion and commitment to her students, her continuous drive to help her students learn, and her absolute dedication to teaching the students in the Washoe County School District.
