John England ~ Class of 1972

             John England was born on September 25th, 1954, to Elmer and Diana England. He is the oldest of five children. John attended Central Avenue for elementary school and Louis Pasteur Middle School in Orangevale, California. John’s family relocated to the Northern Nevada area in 1970.

            During John’s time at Sparks High School, he was a two-sport athlete (football and baseball) and was the senior class president. After graduating from Sparks high School in 1972, John attended the University of Nevada where he played baseball and majored in Physical Education.

            After graduating from the University of Nevada, John taught and coached numerous sports at Ready Springs School in Penn Valley, California. He then served with Athletes in Action as International Baseball Director from 1984-1990. For the past 25 years, John has worked in Northern Nevada as a Team Sporting Goods Salesman working with the Washoe County Middle School and High School programs.

            John “Johnny Baseball” England has been married to his wife Karen for 26 years. Together, they have two sons and two daughters (Jared, Josh, Jenny, Jordan). John will always be remembered for his passion for helping young people, his love of Sparks High School, his positive energy, and his love of God and family.
