Patti McClelland ~ Friend of Sparks High School

            Pattie McClelland was born on February 14, 1948, in Reno Nevada. She attended Sparks Middle School and graduated from Wooster High School in 1966. She has been, married for forty-eight years to Gene McClelland, her high school sweetheart. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in education with an emphasis in English, a minor in English as a Second Language, history, and reading. She graduated from the University of Nevada, Reno at the age of forty-five in 1994, after dedicating most of her life to raising her children. She fulfilled her dream of becoming a high school English teacher in 1994, eventually retiring from Sparks High School in 2008.

            Patti began her love of books when she was a young child. Read for the Ride, a program that inspires students to read, with the opportunity to win a car. Although Mrs. McClelland had to retire from being a teacher, she continues to support students in every way she can.
