Geno Martini – Class of 1964
Geno Martini was born in Reno, Nevada at St. Mary’s Hospital. Mr. Martini grew up on a family ranch in Sparks with his parents, Elio and Irma Martini and his older brother Sam. He is now living in Sparks with his wife, Ruth. He is the proud father of one daughter, Gina
During Mr. Martini’s Sparks High years, he was involved in athletics and he was student body president. When he graduated in 1964, he went on to the University of Nevada, Reno where he continued to be involved in athletics. He graduated with a degree in teaching. He never, however, pursued a career in teaching; instead, he had a successful career in banking which spanned 30 years.
Mr. Martini served on the Sparks City Council for several years then was appointed Mayor Pro-Tem of Sparks, Nevada. In November of 2006, he was elected a full term for this position. Currently, Mayor Martini serves on several committees including: Regional Planning Governing Board, Truckee Meadows Water Authority, Truckee River Flood Project Coordinating Committee, Western Regional Water Commission and the Debt Management Commission.
He is a recipient of the Sparks Chamber Citizen of the year Award, the Sparks Chamber Lifetime Achievement Award and the national Multiple Sclerosis Society Hope Award. He has also served on the Board of Directors of The American heart Association, and the Board of Governors of Northern Nevada Medical Center, and he was the president of the Sparks Chamber of Commerce.
