Timonthy Charles Brown, PhD – Class of 1955

Timothy Charles Brown was born in Anthony, Kansas in 1938.  He transferred from Reno High School to Sparks High School, but he says Sparks is where his heart is.  He participated in many activities during his time at SHS:  football, track and field, and the debate team.  In 1955 at the age of sixteen he graduated from Sparks High School.

After graduating from high school, Brown joined the Marines.  AS a Marine, he was a Thai and Spanish interpreter.  During his tenure, he travelled the world.  On one of his trips to Nicaragua, he met Leda Moraima Zuniga from Costa Rica.  They married in 1958; they have four children, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Brown is a well-rounded man; he was a consul general in Latin America; he has four PhDs from New Mexico state University in History, Political Science, Economics, and Political Psychology; he is fluent in four different languages Spanish, English, French and Thai; and Brown is also a highly acclaimed author and lecturer.  His books included When the AK47’s Fall Silent; Revolutionaries, Guerillas, and the Dangers of Peace, and The Real Contra War-Highlander: Peasant Resistance in Nicaragua.

During his spare time, he lectures for colleges, writes books, gives interviews and contacts old acquaintances.
