Donald Abbott – Class of 2008

Donald Abbott was born February 28, 1990, to Roy & Donna Abbott and is a Sparks Native. He grew up in Sparks and attended Little Bear Pre-School, Greenbrae Elementary, Dilworth Middle School and graduated with an Honors Diploma from Sparks High School. While at SHS, he was on the Football team his Freshman and Sophomore years and joined the Tennis team his Junior and Senior years.

After graduating from SHS, Donald went on to attend Truckee Meadows Community College where he earned an Associates in HVAC/R. After graduating, he became a part-time professor at TMCC and earned an Associates in Renewable Energy while teaching.

In 2016, he was elected to the Sparks City Council. He was the first millennial and youngest person ever to hold the position, representing Ward 1. In addition to his work with the City of Sparks, Donald owns AbbottOgraphy. His photography business allows him to donate time and photos to every Varsity sports team and his fellow Railroaders.

Serving as the Alumni President, Donald has been instrumental in bringing energy to the Sparks High School Alumni Association. He helped lead his graduating class of 2008 to create a scholarship for Sparks High graduates, which continues to give money back to Railroaders every year. Attending Sparks High School provided a community connection that inspired him to become a steward of the school, and the City of Sparks as a whole. There is a simple phrase that all Railroaders know that sums it up perfectly…

Once A Railroader, Always A Railroader!
